Pound agrees to meet with Conte.

Out going WADA supremo Dick Pound has sensationally agreed to meet the infamous Victor Conte to talk about the war on doping.
In previous interviews Conte had said that whilst the IAAF were happy engage him on such matters WADA were less that receptive to his ideas but Pound said, “(Conte) said 'Wada has never called me' - I'm calling him. We're setting up a meeting.”
Conte wants WADA to adopt 3 key policies that he believes will significantly increase the number of athletes testing positive.
1. Target test athletes from nations that do not have their own anti doping agency.
2. Reduce the number of tests an athlete is allowed to miss in an eighteen month period from 2 to 1.
3. Concentrate on the top 20 athletes in any given discipline.
In an open letter Conte wrote to WADA last month he stated, “Wada should target the top-20 ranked athletes in each event and test them 10 times during the off season on their home soil instead of two times during the competitive season.”
“The top 20 are the ones getting the lanes, winning the medals and making the money.”
Pound seems to be in agreement with all Conte’s recommendations and has also agreed to seriously ‘beef up’ the amount of out of competition testing that takes place.
However with Pound’s reign as head of WADA set to end at the end of the year when he is succeeded by Australian John Fahey it remains to be seen to what extent Conte’s recommendations will be implemented on the ground.
