Marion Jones admits to taking THG.

Olympic legend Marion Jones has sensationally admitted to using performance enhancing drugs – a revelation that could see her stripped of the five medals she won in the Sydney Olympic Games and the thirty one year old could face possible jail time.
She admitted that in the run up to the Sydney games she took a banned substance known as ‘the clear’ which is otherwise known as THG – the same drug that sprinters Dwain Chambers and Kelli White and shot putters Kevin Toth and CJ Hunter were suspended for using.
The admission marks the latest twist in the BALCO (Bay Area Laboratory Co-Operative) scandal and with insiders at the IOC (International Olympic Committee) saying that the act of stripping Jones of her Olympic medals is a ‘formality’ the sprinter has elected to retire from the sport.
After the trial an emotional Jones told reporters, “It is with a great amount of shame that I stand before you and tell you that I have betrayed your trust”
“Because of my actions I am retiring from the sport of track and field, a sport which I deeply love.”
It is also interesting to note that last year Jones tested positive for another drug known as EPO but was then cleared when her ‘B’ sample proved to contain no trace of the red blood cell count booster.
The scandal is sure to continue still further with the trial of Jones former partner Tim Montgomery whose sentencing for his part in a money laundering scandal – also linked to BALCO is due next month.
